Allied Health: Anatomy of a Growing Industry

Allied health, an industry that already employs an estimated 6 million workers, is expected to grow even further in the coming years, according to federal projections. With more than 85 professions offering positions for people with varying skill and education levels, allied health can prove to be the perfect choice for those seeking a job in the coming years. For example, an aging Baby Boomer population is expected to keep many allied health professions growing for years to come. The generation is one of the largest in history and those within it are expected to outlive previous generations, thus requiring more health care.

The infographic below highlights some of the allied health jobs expected to grow the fastest this decade, according to projections from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
