The story of the proliferation of the Ford Mustang is a uniquely American one. Originally designed and brought to market as a new breed of “Pony Style Coupe” which introduced the characteristic long hood and short trunk that would come to be the hallmark of all muscle cars, the Mustang has since transformed into more than a car, it has become an icon.

This iconic status is most apparent when one considers the various star-making representations that the Mustang has had in American cinema. The Mustang has made more memorable appearances in movies than any other car of its kind, and if recent movies are any indication, it is showing no sign of stopping or even of slowing down.
