Many UK businesses are looking to grow in 2014 but face significant challenges in securing the business financing they need, according to a survey of UK SMEs conducted by Boost Capital. Even though 34% of UK small businesses have growth plans, 29% identified accessing growth capital as an obstacle. SMEs located in Northern UK showed the strongest growth aspirations but 72% said they felt let down by their bank. As a result, small business owners in the UK are turning to alternative financing options such as short-term business loans.
