Early childhood teachers are busy people who constantly create new and exciting activities for children in the classroom. Many of these activities incorporate sensory play, a concept incorporating the five senses into learning activities. The team at AAA State of Play made lesson plans easy with 12 play activities themed to the months of the year.
Each lesson has an illustrated picture of the activity, a theme, a description of how to set up the activity, and links to a video demonstrating the activity. The activities selected include water tables, ice, color blending, digging, texture variety, scent discovery, problem-solving, building, tactile play, and listening to unique sounds.
Sensory play is essential to children’s development of their senses. This experiential, fully engaged play has been proven to create memorable experiences that enhance learning. Seasonal themes add extra engagement that will have a more lasting impact.
