On June 29th, the Tour de France 2013 will kick start once again, marking the 100th race in the competition’s history. But the big question on every cycling enthusiast’s lips is: who is the favorite to win TdF 2013? Bradley Wiggins will be defending his title, but after pulling out of the Giro d’Italia from illness he’ll only be supporting his teammate; last year’s runner up and this year’s hot-favourite, Chris Froome.
Sizing up against Froome is another big contender – Alberto Contador, racing as part of Saxo-Tinkoff, the team co-sponsored by Saxo Bank. Contador is a two-time Tour de France winner, having taken the cycling title in 2007 and 2009, and has previously won the Giro d’Italia and the Vuelta a Espana; two of the other major road cycling races in Europe.
So how do these two on-form cyclists compare? And which will win the Tour de France 2013? Saxo Capital Markets have put together an infographic to help cycling enthusiasts, pundits and Tour de France fans alike, weigh up the two main contenders.
