There are a huge number of rice varieties around the world – 40,000 plus in fact! Thankfully our lives are made a lot less confusing at the supermarket as there are fewer options on the shelf. Two common types of rice are Jasmine and Basmati. At a glance, they look quite similar when they’re raw but don’t let that fool you. They’re quite different rice varieties with their own uses in the kitchen.
