In pursuit of better health and increased longevity, the topic of death is unavoidable. The team at PARequirements shows us the leading causes of death broken down by age.

The team found that the leading cause of death from 1 year to 44 years was unintentional injury. The causes of these injuries varied by age. For toddlers and children, deadly injuries were most often caused by falls, drowning, and poisoning.

Car crashes and alcohol consumption most often cause deadly teenage injuries. For adults between the ages of 25 and 44 years old, the injuries are still caused by car accidents as well as opioid overdoses.

At age 45, the primary cause of death is cancer. Smoking and diets can have a strong impact on cancer rates. At age 65 and above, the leading cause of death is heart failure. This is seen as a natural cause of death due to aging, even though we can take measures to improve cardiovascular health.
