In a new study, Kremp Florist reveals Americans’ most common birth date and year. They found that August has the highest concentration of birthdays in 45 states, prompting questions about why this might be.

If we count back nine months from April to conception, we land in the months of November to December when several factors align for the best fertility. Chilly outdoor weather can lead to an intimate time indoors. Add in the festive season full of holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s, and you have a recipe that creates quality time, relaxation, and joyful spirits, the perfect conditions for romance.

Scientific data suggests sperm quality peaks during the winter months and declines in summer heat. Female fertility responds to the seasons, too. Shorter fall and winter days boost melatonin production, which stabilizes fertility hormones.

For those couples who carefully plan their ideal birth schedule, many prefer to give birth during the summer and avoid harsh weather, holiday plans, and other complications. The data on this chart certainly enforces what we know about seasonal effects on biology.
