The gender wage gap refers to the difference between salaries of men and women based solely on their gender. Study the timeline below made by the team at Qualtrics and you’ll find that women have always been paid less to the dollar every man makes.
The team studied data from 1960 to 2022 and compiled it in a timeline that makes the gap glaringly clear. Unfortunately, though the gap has shrunk, it’s still significant.
Laws like the Equal Pay Act in 1963 have made some strides to eliminate the gap, but it clearly hasn’t done enough. This issue is a complicated one with many factors perpetuating the gap, but studying data like this can help us achieve true equality.
