As the capabilities and presence of AI in our daily lives spread, some people are eager to see how we can benefit from it, while others believe we need to approach its use with caution. The team at Qualtrics examined which country’s residents believe AI will prove beneficial and which think it will do more harm than good.
Some find AI difficult to trust because it can lead to data breaches and deepfakes. Others point to artists and creators losing intellectual property rights because their work was used to train these machines without permission, enabling AI to create derivative works.
Germans are the most skeptical of AI, with 47% believing it has more drawbacks than benefits. France is close behind at 41% alongside several other Western European countries. While trust in AI is growing, this study makes it clear that it isn’t the case in every nation.
