Vacation rentals can be a brilliant investment with high returns, but managing a property for short-term stays also comes with unique risks. The team at Ooma created a chart displaying the foundations of rental safety, which will help protect owners from these threats.
Property damage is a primary concern, as guests might spill drinks, break appliances, or cause other harm. Overenthusiastic guests may also damage the property if the rules on limits and parties aren’t clear.
This goes hand in hand with liability. Make sure there’s good lighting and plenty of security around the property to prevent accidents and injuries, which liability insurance should cover. Data security is important too. Public Wi-Fi leaves guests vulnerable to hacking and identity theft. Remember that local laws have strict limits on occupancy for fire safety.
