According to a recent survey, 83 percent of Americans want brands to support causes. In the same survey, it was found that 41 percent of people bought a product from a company because they knew the company was associated with a cause.
As more companies and nonprofits are evolving into social enterprises (a hybrid of charity and business), many are counting on social media to help them succeed. With online charity giving steadily rising, along with the ever-increasing popularity of social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, YouTube, and more, it’s not hard to find a number of recent examples of social enterprises that are effectively using social media to aid in their efforts.
