2016 was the deadliest year on American roads in nearly a decade with over 40,200 Americans dying in motor vehicle accidents according to data from the National Safety Council. It is also estimated that 4.6 million Americans were injured in motor vehicle accidents in that same time period.
Using crowd sourced data from Badintersections.com and 9 years of data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Rubens & Kress researched the most dangerous intersection in each state based on automobile and pedestrian accident occurrences in each state and turned it into an infographic that can be seen below.
