Car purchase and maintenance costs are rising, leaving many Americans wondering how to make ownership more affordable. The team at Grease Monkey shows us that location is a significant factor in car ownership expenses.

The team examined 15 car-related expenses and mapped each state based on these costs. They found that the most affordable state to own a car in is Vermont. They have the lowest used-car prices, low car insurance rates, and car repair premiums. These are all major factors in lowering the cost of car ownership.

Kelley Blue Book also awards Vermont a high score for car affordability. It seems that people may flock to Vermont not just for the beauty of the Green Mountains but for the affordable prices! California is the most expensive state by comparison. Check the team’s map to see how each state in the country ranks.
