Examining North America, we find that the most translated book in North America is L. Ron Hubbard’s The Way to Happiness. This is a self-help non-fiction title from the American creator of the religion, Scientology. Canada’s most translated novel is the beloved coming-of-age tale, Anne of Green Gables, by L.M. Montgomery.
Looking to Central America, we find Mexico’s most translated novel, Pedro Paramo by Juan Rulfo. This 1955 novel has been translated into 35 different languages. In the Bahamas, we find another novel, Hotel by Arthur Hailey, which was turned into a popular TV series in 1983. Jamaica’s most translated novel is a recent title, A Brief History of Seven Killings by Marlon James.
