The team at Kylar Mack are jewelry enthusiasts so they put that interest to work and created this map depicting where in the world we find the most precious metal.

This map shows us where the most gold, silver, palladium, and other precious metals have been found. Maps like this can help us learn more about jewelry origins and world economies.

Gold has attracted humans for centuries with world economies with many economies basing their currency on “gold standard.” It’s estimated that 244,000 metric tons of gold have been found and almost half of the gold that’s been mined now exists as jewelry.

People estimate that 20% of the Earth’s gold still needs to be extracted. The most gold has been found in China with Australia close behind. As for silver, Mexico leads the world with the most with Peru coming in second. The map shows a few other metals like platinum and palladium with stats on how much was mined there.
