Eager anglers head out for a fishing trip knowing there are some fish varieties they’re more likely to catch than others. The team at Staten Island Yachts presents the following infographic that shows Atlantic seaboard fishers what to expect when they head out on their next trip. They determined the breeds of fish that were the most and least caught between 2019 and 2023.
The Black Sea Bass was the most caught, with an estimated 116,216,243 caught in the time frame studied. They are frequently caught because there are so many of them living up and down the Atlantic Coast. In summer, these fish take to rocky, shallow areas to hunt for crustaceans.
The Bluefish was the second most caught. They present a fun challenge for seasoned anglers with feisty personalities and razor-like teeth. Sometimes, Bluefish leap right out of the water to snap at the line. They’re large and make for a good photo op.
