The team at Oxi Fresh proved we can measure cleanliness with a map of the U.S. featuring states ranked by their score on the Oxi Fresh Home Cleanliness Index. While cleanliness is subjective in some ways, with different cultures having different standards of definition, the team endeavored to create a fair comparison with cleanliness ranked in 11 categories.

This was a survey-style measurement that asked respondents 11 questions, each with a corresponding score assigned to the answers.

First, participants were asked to rate the cleanliness of their home on a scale of 1 to 10. Then, they were asked five questions about how often they perform cleaning tasks, such as vacuuming, deep cleaning, mopping, changing linens, and scrubbing the bathroom. Last, they were asked how they would feel about cleanliness if guests showed up unannounced, how they’d describe the home’s clutter level, and whether they hire professional cleaning services.
