Across the United States, the adoption of artificial intelligence is growing, but unevenly. The Ooma team presents a new map that clearly shows which states are leading in AI adoption in the workforce and which are lagging.

Western states like Arizona, Colorado, and Nevada are leading early adopters, with many businesses already integrating AI into their everyday operations. These states also indicated a strong intent to expand their usage, so we can expect growth to continue there. In contrast, states like Alaska and West Virginia are much slower to adopt AI, highlighting regional differences in digital infrastructure, workforce readiness, and industry types.

Despite the excitement surrounding AI, adoption remains modest nationwide, with fewer than a third of businesses using the technology. The team’s research shows a rapidly changing but uneven AI adoption landscape.
